Starting at 11am yesterday, and finishing 13 hours later Treacle whelped 8 (OMG) 8 puppies. There are 3 chocolate drop brown boys, and 5 coal black boys & girls all with white bibs.
She did remarkably well considering this is her first litter, and we are very proud of her. She is overwhelmed with her new children, and is doing a great job. The farmer and I are exhausted, midwifery is very stressful, and so we are having a quiet Sunday to catch up with some R&R. The kitchen chorus is now squeaks and whines from these numerous babes, and I foresee 8 weeks of hard work to come....
